· epcot originally started out with the name e.p.c.o.t. this acronym stood for experimental prototype community of tomorrow.
· the land ride grows more than 30 tons of fruits and vegetables for disney restaurants every single year.
· at the epcot ball, take the path to the right (towards the living seas). When it’s dark, you’ll find that the sidewalks here twinkle, resembling the ocean floor.
· the distance around the world showcase is 1.25 miles.
· at the american pavilion, there is an american flag that was taken from the rubble of 9/11.
· a waterfall was added to the outside of the canadian pavilion to mask the sound of a large generator right behind it.
· the single totem pole on the left of the entrance at the Canadian Pavilion is a real totem pole. it was carved out of cedar by david boxley in 1998.
· the temple at the chinese pavilion is acoustically perfect. if you stand in the middle of the room, your voice will echo back to you.
· the werther’s original store at the german pavilion is the only one in the entire world. usually, werther’s originals are only carried by stores.
· the statue that you see at the entrance to the japanese pavilion was given to disney world as a gift from japan when magic kingdom opened.it was later moved to the japanese pavilion when epcot opened.
· every carving in morocco was hand-made.
· when the countries are lit up as part of illuminations, you’ll notice that they do not light up the temple in morocco. this is because it would violate their religious beliefs.
· when disney asked morocco to be a part of the world showcase, the king was so honored that he sent his own men to orlando to help build the pavilion, along with paying for the entire construction.
· the height of each country’s tallest feature is the same. like japan’s pagoda, france’s eiffel tower, canada’s mountains, etc. it’s only forced perspective that makes some features appear taller than others.
